Tobacco Farms in Vinales

Today we set off west to the town Vinales. The day started off at 7:00 where everyone had an early breakfast. Even though everyone was tired, everyone was exited to see the rest of Cuba. We had a 3 hour drive to Vinales to experience the amazing tobacco farms and learn the traditional way of rolling a cigar. Afterwards we departed to our next destination where we will be spending the next 2 nights.

In Vinales we walked along the farm seeing Cuba’s beautiful landscapes. We then all gathered into a hut where we witnessed a cigar being hand rolled. The man rolling the cigar explained the process of growing the tobacco. He explained what the parts of the leaves were, and which one contained what. Everything was fascinating, we walked in a town that had small but colorful homes. They were very different to Havana because it was much smaller. We had a nice lunch at a local restaurant where we met some cute animals!

We then settled in into our “private” resort where there is a swimming pool and a pool table. The resort was in the eco lodge of Charco Azul. At last we ended off the day playing cards and laughing out throughout the whole night.
